Police are investigating whether a body found in Waipio Valley on Sunday is a 22-year-old hiker who was reported missing on Saturday.
Lindsey Nickerson of Kailua-Kona was last seen Saturday afternoon when she separated from a tour group of 25 persons during a hike in Waipio Valley.
At 2 p.m. Sunday, Fire Department personnel searching for the missing hiker reported that they found a female body near the Tea House after locating the missing hiker’s belongings near the Hiilawe River.
Police are attempting to make positive identification of the body. They do not suspect foul play. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
